We scan photo albums and scrapbooks up to A3 size and can create both individual digital images and a PDF copy of the complete album.

Scrapbook Scanning
Standard flat scrapbook pages are charged at our usual full-page scanning rate. Pages containing letters, cards, envelopes, fold-outs or layered items that need to be opened and scanned are charged from £2.50 per page.
Particularly intricate or fragile scrapbooks are individually quoted. All items are handled carefully and returned to their original position.
What resolution is best for your photo albums?
Scanning resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi). The higher the resolution, the more detail is captured from the original photograph. For most photo albums, 300 dpi is ideal for viewing and sharing, while 600 dpi provides extra detail if you may want to enlarge or print individual photographs.
The best choice depends on what you plan to do with the digital images. If you simply want to view, store and share your photographs, 300 dpi is usually sufficient. Choose 600 dpi if you would like greater detail or more flexibility for future printing and enlargement.
At PicSave, we use professional scanning equipment and carefully check your images as they are digitised. Both 300 dpi and 600 dpi scanning are available, so you can choose the resolution that best suits how you intend to use your photographs.
Whichever resolution you choose, your album pages and photographs are handled carefully throughout the scanning process, with colour and contrast correction included where appropriate.
Choose 300 dpi if:
300 dpi is ideal if you mainly want to view your digitised album photos on a computer, television, tablet or phone, or share them with family and friends. It provides excellent quality for everyday viewing while keeping file sizes manageable.
Choose 600 dpi if:
600 dpi is the better choice if you plan to enlarge or print your digitised photographs, or simply want to capture more detail for long-term archiving. File sizes will be larger, particularly when scanning complete album pages.

What format are my scanned album photos saved in?
Your scanned photographs are supplied as high-quality JPEG files as standard. TIFF files are also available if required.
How long will it take to scan my photo albums?
Turnaround time depends on the number of albums and whether you choose full-page scans, individual photographs scanned in situ, or photographs removed for scanning. We will give you an estimated completion time for your order.
Will you return my photo albums?
Yes. Your albums and photographs will be returned to you with your completed order. If you would prefer us to securely dispose of them, we can arrange shredding for an additional charge.
Do I need to count all the photographs or album pages before sending them?
No. We only need an approximate number so that you can estimate the cost of your order. We will confirm the final quantity once scanning is complete and contact you if it differs significantly from your estimate.
